Promises Made, Promises Kept!

  • Balanced the state budget – without tax increases – by prioritizing spending. Government must live within its means just like our High Country families. (House Bill 200 & HB 950)
  • Supported photo voter ID (unfortunately vetoed by current Governor). (HB 351)
  • Achieved tort reform and workers’ comp reform to encourage job creation. (HB 542 & HB 709)
  • Loosened other burdensome regulations on job creators. (HB 781 & Senate Bill 22)
  • Protected teachers’ jobs by focusing education funding on classrooms – not the bureaucracy. (HB 200)
  • Provided teachers and public employees with a 1.2% pay increase – first in four years. (HB 950)
  • Provided additional funding to public education to enhance student literacy, improve graduation rates, and reward effective teachers. (HB 950)
  • Defended North Carolinians from overreaching federal healthcare mandates (unfortunately vetoed by current Governor). (HB 2)
  • Eliminated the arbitrary cap on charter schools. (SB 8)
  • Voted for legislation that prohibits fleeing probation violators from receiving public assistance. (HB 1173)
